Added Value of Karate at African Games Showcased by Visit of High Sport Officials

In a demonstration of the tremendous added value of Karate to multi-sport international events, the first day of the Karate competition at the African Games in Accra witnessed a significant moment as the Executive Chairman of the Local Organising Committee for the 13th African Games Dr. Kwaku Ofosu-Asare, the Vice-Chairperson of the Technical Committee for the African Games (TCAG) Major General Ahmed Nasser attended the Karate competition.

The officials, who presented awards at the medal ceremony, were warmly welcomed by World Karate Federation (WKF) President Antonio Espinós and President of the Union of African Karate Federations (UFAK), Souleymane Gaye. Their presence highlighted the significance of Karate in the African Games and the sport's ability to unite nations through shared values of discipline, respect, and excellence.

WKF President Antonio Espinó said:

Dr. Kwaku Ofosu-Asare and Major General Ahmed Nasser are the highest sports officials at the event and their presence at the Karate competition serves as a testament to the sport's growing popularity and significance within the African sporting community.
