The highest-scoring bout of Day 1 of #Karate1Cairo

Day 1 of the Karate 1 Premier League in Cairo witnessed a gripping showdown that left spectators on the edge of their seats. In a clash that showcased the essence of offensive karate, Abdallah Hammad of Jordan squared off against Ka Him Chau of Hong Kong in the Male Kumite -60kg category, a thrilling bout that ended with an outstanding score of 10-9.

The electrifying bout unfolded in the elimination round, within Pool 7. Abdallah Hammad, a seasoned karateka and former continental champion, brought his wealth of experience to the tatami. With a Karate 1-Premier League title under his belt from Fujairah in 2022, Hammad was determined to make his mark once again.

On the other side stood Ka Him Chau, a rising talent and a former junior continental runner-up, who had yet to reach the finals of the Karate 1-Premier League.

As the bout unfolded, both athletes unleashed a flurry of attacks. Ka took a clear lead after scoring two “Ippon” and putting the 9-3 on the scoreboard.

However, Hammad bounced back and scored two “Ippon” to put the tie back on the scoreboard (9-9). The 2022 continental champion managed to score a late “Yuko”, with 25 seconds to go.

In a nail-biting finish, Abdallah Hammad emerged victorious with a narrow margin of 10-9, securing his spot in the next round, and eventually making it to the final of the category on Sunday.
