UFAK Congress Highlights Progress of Karate in Africa

The African Karate Federation (UFAK) Tuesday gathered in Accra (Ghana) for the annual Congress on the occasion of the African Games. Spearheaded by the UFAK President Souleymane Gaye, the gathering drew representatives from UFAK countries, alongside WKF President Antonio Espinós.

At the forefront of the agenda was a comprehensive review of the current status and progress of karate across Africa. The assembly delved into the details concerning the sport's development within the region. Additionally, deliberations extended to the financial health of the organization as well as the progress of the regions and strategies for enhancing karate's presence and accessibility on the continent. Also, the seat of the 2024 UFAK Cadet, Junior and U21 Championships was addressed.

WKF President Antonio Espinós said:

“It is truly inspiring to witness the passion and commitment demonstrated by UFAK and its member countries towards the development and promotion of karate. The discussions held during the congress underscore the tremendous steps taken in advancing karate across the African continent and the outstanding popularity that our sport has garnered in the region.

“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to President Souleymane Gaye for his steadfast dedication and immense contribution to elevating the nature of karate within Africa and around the world. Together, we will continue to empower athletes, inspire communities, and uphold the many values that define our beloved sport.”

UFAK President Souleymane Gaye said:
